What do you wanna know?

What is The Grail Hunter?

The Grail Hunter is a brand-new app that makes it easy to snag that grail you’ve always wanted! We built The Grail Hunter because eBay’s saved search function only sends out notifications once a day. If a grail is listed for a great price, it usually got scooped up before we even knew it was listed.

So, we created The Grail Hunter so you can “set it and forget it.” Here’s what you do:

  1. Pick the grail you want.
  2. Save the search.
  3. Get notifications almost immediately when a new listing “pops” up (excuse the pun) on eBay.
  4. Also, get notifications when an auction is ending within an hour and the bids are still below current value.

What’s really cool (at least we think it’s cool) is that The Grail Hunter updates the prices every day and automatically adjusts the search! If the price goes up or down, the search changes without you having to do a thing!

Who are you guys?

Good question! We are a couple of Pop collectors on the West Coast who got frustrated with always missing out on amazing grail deals. We didn’t have the time to be on eBay 24/7 looking for the best deals.

To fix this, we built The Grail Hunter!

How do I search?

Searching is a fine art! If you’ve ever been on eBay searching for Pops, you know that no two people will list the same Pop the same way!

When you select a Pop to search on The Grail Hunter, you will see we have automatically put in the name of the Pop and any qualifiers (metallic, glow in the dark, and so on).

But some Pops have MANY different versions, so it can be tricky. If you are searching and not getting the results you want, try using the Exclude Words box to put in keywords you don’t want to show up in the results. Or try narrowing it by putting the Pop # in the search field. Once you have the search results you want, tap save and you’ll be all set.

The “show results below current value” means that your search will automatically adjust as the price of the Pop goes up and down. If you uncheck this, you can select a new max price or set it to show all Pops regardless of price (we see you Freddy Funko collectors). HOWEVER, if you do this, the price will not automatically change when the current price changes.

What is that “show best offers” button? Well, we all know that people will list Pops for above current value and then they have a “best offer” option. If you turn this on, you can select the percentage over the current value that you want to display in the search results. This will let you know when a Pop is listed that you might want to make an offer on.

Search Worldwide can be toggled on and off. When turned OFF, it will only show listings in the USA. When turned on, it will show all listings around the world except from China, Thailand, and Hong Kong. Those countries are notorious for fake and counterfeit Pops.

We have an “Out of Box” option. If you turn this on, we will show results that list OOB or similar words in the title. Even with this option OFF, you still might get some OOB results because not everyone lists their Pop as out of box in the title.

The Replicas and Customs field works the same way as the Out of Box option.

What are those symbols next to the price on the listing results page?

To keep you from endlessly clicking back and forth between The Grail Hunter and eBay, we’ve made it easier to see if the price of the Pop is right for you.

  • (hammer icon) – auction
  • (hand with money icon) – listing accepts best offers
  • (truck) – offers free shipping
  • (globe) – seller outside the US

Why am I not seeing any results for my saved searches?

It is possible that there are no Pops available at the moment that meet your search criteria.

Keep in mind, that The Grail Hunter results ONLY show auctions ending within an hour. So you might be used to seeing a lot of results on eBay, but they are mainly auctions. If you save the search, you’ll be notified if an auction is ending within an hour and the bid are below the current value. It might not end up that way when the bidding is over, but it will give you a chance to get in on the action!

Another problem might be that the default search terms are wrong. For instance, PPG lists Red Jafar with the variant “as Genie Glow in the Dark.” The default search on The Grail Hunter would be “Red Jafar AS Genie Glow in the Dark.” However, most of the listings for this Pop don’t use the word AS in their listing. Removing AS from the search will give you the correct results.

You can also try clicking on “show all Pops” in the price field and see if you get any results and then adjusting your search accordingly.

How can I define my searches?

First off, there is no need to put in “funko pop” in the search field. We do that for you already. If you are searching for Freddy Funko Pops, we have also already included the phrase “freddy funko” that in the search even if you don’t see it.

Here are some common ways you can manage your searches:
Removing words: Put a the word “shirt” in the Excluded Words box.
  • Example: Nymeria -shirt
  • Results: Will only show the Game of Thrones Nymeria Pop only and not the bundle with the shirt.
Adding words: Simply add the words or numbers you want.
  • Example: Rachel Green 261
  • There are two Rachel Green Pops. This will only show the rarer one with item number #261.
Using words with spaces: Put the phrase in quotes you want to use.
  • Example: Olaf “LE 196”
  • Result: Will show the Freddy Funko Olaf 1/196 version and not the 1/12 version.

You can use as many of these qualifiers as you want to refine the searches.

Do you show fake Pops in your search results?

Fake and counterfeit Pops are a huge problem in the market. There is no way to know for sure if a Pop is authentic. However, we do know they mostly come from China, Thailand, and Hong Kong. We do not show results from those countries in the search results even if Worldwide Search is turned on.

But, be smart about it! If something seems too good to be true, it probably is. Check the seller’s rating and comments. eBay does has a money back guarantee if the Pop is fake.

Why can’t I search for Dorbz, Mystery Minis, or other Funko products?

Right now, we have limited the search results to only Funko Pop Vinyls. That’s over 8,000 Pops!
